Collaborative Ocular Melanoma Study
- Small (1 - 3mm thick, basal diameter < 5mm: 30% grow & mortality 1% 5yrs; Thickness > 2mm, fluid, symptoms, orange pigment, margin within 3mm of optic disc. “TFSOM”
- Medium (3 - 10mm thick, 5 - 16mm basal diameter): brachytherapy = enucleation, mortality with treatment 20%
- Large (> 10mm thick, > 16mm basal diameter): pre-enucleation radiation treatment no effect, mortality with treatment 35%
Monosomy 3 = poor prognosis
